Lesson 6 He looks like you
Has someone ever asked you to describe another person’s appearance? Well, Anne asks Keiko to describe her boyfriend. What does Keiko get wrong?
Anne: What does your boyfriend look like?
Keiko: He looks like tall and handsome with short black hair.
Did you see the mistake? Keiko’s boyfriend doesn’t “look like” tall and handsome; he is tall and handsome. We use “looks like” to describe someone who has an appearance similar to that of someone else, so Keiko could say, “He’s tall and handsome. He looks like Jun Matsumoto from Arashi.”
