Lesson 2 Take care on your trip
Most of us like to take trips to different places. But some trips are more fun than others. Jonathan and Keita are talking about trips this summer.
Jonathan: I’m going to take a trip to Hokkaido in August. Are you going anywhere this summer?
Keita: I haven’t decided, but I want to trip to Kyoto.
Do you want to trip to Kyoto too? I hope not! As a noun, "trip" means to visit somewhere, like taking a business trip. But as a verb, "trip" means to stumble and fall over. So Keita should say, "I want to take a trip to Kyoto." Remember that taking trips can be fun, but tripping can be painful.
